About Girdutis Jakaitis
Girdutis Jakaitis started his concert activities while studying at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, at Evaldas Vyčinas and prof. Petras Radzevičius classes. In 1989 he was awarded the 2nd Prize of the Young Performers Competition in Chisinau (Moldova) and participated in international competitions in Italy and Germany. As a member of the String Quartet of the Academy of Music and Theater, he has performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and the Sofia Academy of Music in Bulgaria. 1990 the violist attended prof. Thomas Riebley's masterclass at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
He has performed in recitals in Lithuanian cities, Germany, as a soloist with the Academy of Music and Theater, Chisinau Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, String Group of the State Symphony Orchestra, Lithuanian and Klaipėda Chamber Orchestras, performed at the contemporary music festivals 'Gaida' and 'Young Music'. The violist collaborates with the 'Gaida' ensemble on contemporary repertoire.
Until 1996 G. Jakaitis played in the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and was later invited to the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra. Since 1997 he is an artist of the Vilnius State Quartet. He has performed in almost all major music festivals and concert halls in Lithuania, as well as toured in Merkin and Weill Recital halls in New York, P. Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Musikverein in Vienna and Mozarteum in Salzburg. ”In the halls.
